- Apply online at www2.calstate.edu/apply on or after October 1st. Colleges are impacted, so apply as early as possible. The priority deadline is November 30th. Be sure to indicate all campus choices and majors. The application fee is $55 per campus.
Please have a credit card number ready or you will have to mail a check.
- Fee waivers: please see the fee waiver specific handout provided.
- Contact Information includes your contact number, mailing address, and email address
- Annual income for last year and the current year (your parents' if you're a dependent; your income if you're independent). This is optional unless you're applying for an application fee waiver or for the Educational Opportunity Program. BRING A COPY OF YOUR PARENTS’ TAXES IF NECESSARY OR BE PREPARED TO CALL THEM FOR THAT INFORMATION.
- Social Security number, if you have one.
- Citizenship status. You must enter your country of citizenship (or "No Selection"). If your country of citizenship is outside the United States, you'll need to provide your immigration status and your visa type.
- California Statewide Student ID (optional). Each K-12 student in California public schools is assigned an ID number. If it's not printed on your transcript, ask your counselor or registrar.
- To be considered for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), you should check the EOP box when you complete the online application.
Keep a record of your application ID and a summary for your reference.
- SAT and ACT scores should be sent directly to CSU. The SAT code is 3594. All CSU campuses will receive your scores, if you use this code. Check individual websites for clarification. (If you sent your scores to one CSU, all CSUs will receive your scores.)
- Transcripts are not required at this time, unless the campus indicates need for one.
University of California (UC):

- Make sure to have your UC Personal Insight Statements on hand.
- Apply online between November 1st - November 30th. Read the instructions thoroughly, prior to beginning the application. Don’t wait until the 30th when the web portal is overcrowded and may “crash”, or at the least goes very slowly. The application fee is $70 per campus. Be sure to indicate all campus choices and majors. Apply to all UC campuses you would like to attend.
Please have a credit card number ready or you will have to mail a check.
- Fee waivers: please see the fee waiver specific handout provided.

- To be considered for the Education Opportunity Program (EOP), you should indicate your interest when you complete the online application. Be sure to fill out your parents’ level of education, family size and household income later in the application.
Keep a record of your application ID and a summary for your reference.
- SAT and ACT scores must be sent directly to UC. (You can have your official score report sent to one UC campus, and all campuses you apply to will receive it.)
- The UCs do NOT recommend score choice on the SAT or ACT. Two SAT subject tests are recommended and may be required, in two different disciplines, in addition to the Critical Reasoning Test. The ACT must include the writing component.
- You do not need to send a copy of your transcript with the application.
- Update your Academic Record. If you add or drop a course or fail to maintain your grades after you applied, you must notify the campus/campuses in writing.
Please note: All grades must be maintained in the senior year. Do not risk having your acceptance to college rescinded because of senioritis.

Fee Waivers
Click Here to see a PDF of the below information.
University of California
UC will waive application fees for up to four campuses for qualified students who would otherwise be unable to apply for admission. The fee waiver program is for United States citizens and permanent residents only.
Students who qualify for fee waivers and who select more than four campuses must pay $70 for each additional choice.
Apply for a fee waiver
You can apply for a fee waiver within the online application and be notified immediately whether you have qualified. You will need to provide your family's income and the number of people supported by that income. DO NOT GUESS.
California State University
In case of financial hardship, the California State University system allows for a limited number of campus application fee waivers for residents of California only. When filing the online application via www2.calstate.edu/apply the fee waiver request is included in the online system as part of the application process. You will be notified at the time you apply online if you qualify for the fee waiver. Please note: Eligibility for application fee waivers is not equivalent to the College Board or Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program criterion. Qualifying for a College Board Fee Waiver or the Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program does NOT automatically qualify you for a CSU Application Fee Waiver.

College Board
Every income-eligible senior who takes the SAT or SAT Subject Test using a fee waiver will receive four free college application fee waivers directly from the College Board, which they can use to apply to over 2,000 participating colleges and universities. Additionally, as part of the College Board’s Access to Opportunity initiative, select students will receive college application fee waivers.
This initiative recognizes and builds on the long-standing policies of our higher education partners to ensure that application fees are not a barrier for low-income students in applying to and enrolling in college.
How to Get a College Application Fee Waiver
Eligible students who have taken the SAT can access their fee waivers from their College Board accounts. The waivers will be available when SAT scores are delivered.
Juniors who are eligible and have taken the SAT will receive their fee waivers in the fall of their senior year.
Using College Application Fee Waivers
To have a college application fee waived, students must submit their fee waiver directly to the college they are applying to (NOT to the College Board).
Most colleges and universities define eligibility for a college application fee waiver as being eligible for or having received a fee waiver for a test such as the SAT or an SAT Subject Test, participating in the National School Lunch Program, or receiving public assistance.
Before using a fee waiver, students should check the list of participating schools to ensure that it will be accepted. Colleges that cooperate with the SAT Fee-Waiver Service are not required to waive their application fees, and some may request additional information before considering or honoring the waiver.
ADDITIONAL FEE WAIVER INFORMATION
-
Some colleges do not accept fee waivers for out of state students.
-
Some colleges do not charge an application fee.
-
Some colleges will defer the application fee and only charge you if you decide to go to that school. They add the fee onto your tuition bill.
-
Some colleges have their own fee waiver form or will accept another form like NACAC. If you are on free or reduced lunch (e.g., can supply an eligibility letter), Mrs. Hill in the Student Center may complete this form for you.
